BabarTreeSmallI’ve been a florist for most of my life. When I was thirteen, my mom bought a flower shop and I was often conscripted into labor! At the time, I think I found working with my mom during my teenage years a little trying. Now, looking back, I’m so glad I had the chance to spend so much time with her creating beautiful arrangements to the delight of her customers.

I still work as a florist on holidays. For Christmas, I’ve had the pleasure of decorating the Hotel Plaza Athenee for the past three years. (And I was thrilled to add the Chambers Hotel to my roster.) This year, the Plaza Athenee asked me to create a Babar tree for a special Tea with Babar at the hotel. What a challenge. I attached 200 stuffed elephants to a tree base and added lots of bows to complete the look.

The event was covered by Time Out New York and also by Stroller in the City. It’s so great to see people enjoying the tree.
